THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF GENERAL PRACTITIONERS - EXAMINATION FOR MEMBERSHIP (MRCGP)

All candidates applying to sit the MRCGP examination must provide evidence of competence in basic cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Applicants, when applying to take the consulting skills module of the examination, must submit their certificate of proficiency in CPR.

First Response is now accredited by the Examination Board of the Royal College as a training/testing centre to issue certification of competence in basic cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. This is based on current European Resuscitation Council guidelines for basic life support and, when completed, certifies satisfactory performance in basic CPR for the purposes of the examination.

Candidates for the MRCGP examination should contact First Response to arrange for training or testing and to obtain details of the charging tariff.

Please note that candidates who do not achieve the desired standard on their first attempt can then be re-tested after instruction. Also, if any candidate is physically challenged and incapable of carrying out CPR, they should advise First Response who will arrange for the tester to certify competence in instructing a physically able person to perform CPR to the requisite level.
