Bristol cul-de-sac fund own AED
While attending a private first aid training session in First Response MD Clive Haddrell was surprised but impressed to find the residents had financed and purchased their own AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
The Thornbury residents booked First Response for basic first aid training, but unbeknown to Clive, the dozen or so houses of the cul-de-sac had already taken action to prepare against cardiac arrest...
The group purchased their own AED and got First Response along for some training. They wanted to ensure they knew how to react in a medical emergency and safely use the equipment, which thanks to First Response they now do.
A typical defibrillator might cost between £1,000-£1,500. The first Response blog ‘How much should you pay for a defibrillator’ gives some pointers on choosing an AED.
